commandant: (YOU'RE WELCOME WORLD)
Exactly what it says on the tin. The only ones not included are the six generic area warlords because they aren't important enough. (That includes zombie ninja, sand ninja, karate kid, yellow guy with the block of wood on his head, tree fucker, and THE INVIIIINCIBLE KANETSUGU NAOE!!!!) But everyone else is here. SEE HOW MANY YOU CAN IDENTIFY!!! Some are more obvious than others.

commandant: (Harry finds your face disturbing)
I just thought it might be fun I guess? ANY AND ALL SUGGESTIONS ARE WELCOME! So throw them at me if you have any.

-Lavender Town from Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow.
Ah, the track that spawned a million creepypasta, Lavender Town's theme has become a bit of a legend. The track has serveral myths regarding a earlier version of the track that either drove people mad, afflicted them with terrible seisures, killed them, or all of the above. I think what makes the track so unnerving is how simple it is. It's so jarringly dissimilar from any other music in the game, and for good reason given Lavender Town's disquieting backstory. Of course Lavender Town LOOKS perfectly normal on the surface, which makes the music all the more creepy.

-Ceremony~ South Ruins Theme from Secret of Mana.
Again, it's often the most simple sounding songs that are most effective at being creepy. I just recently played Secret of Mana for the first time, and upon reaching the South Ruins I found myself feeling slightly unnerved for the first time in a long while.

-Cosmos of Fear (Planetarium) and Hey, Lugol! (Organ Grinder) from Touch Detective.
Alright this entire game pretty much freaked me the fuck out. Particularly the trippy dream case and the planetarium case. ESPECIALLY the planetarium case, which features both of these tracks. The creepy dead eyed characters didn't help the matter. But yeah, you can sort of see a theme going here with really simple sounds.

-Giygas Battle from Earthbound.
Another kind of obligatory mention. Giygas is kind of famous for being one of the most disturbing/creepy final bosses of all time so of course his theme goes along with that. And yes, this is FINAL BOSS music. Doesn't sound much like other final boss music, does it?

-Karez from Tales of Rebirth.
Now, I love this track, so I've listened to it quite a bit, but I'm STILL not sure whether I find it creepy or calming. It's sort of both, somehow.

-Geisha Spider's Extermination from Okami.
Maybe it's just me being terrified of this boss because she was HUGE and also a fucking spider. But just the part where it's just that weird sound like a high pitched wind/the sound the geisha spider makes just. Yeah.

-The Lunarians from Final Fantasy IV.
Alright, maybe this isn't particularly creepy in and of itself, but I swear to god the first time I heard it (which was in that tunnel place you have to go through on the moon) those first few seconds just made me so nervous and anxious to get out as soon as possible. SO YEAH, it was creepy to me. The moon was really scary to me at first, it was just so EMPTY.

-Another Moon from Final Fantasy IV.
Yeah actually now that I think of it, the main map music for the moon didn't help either. It did a wonderful job of embodying how disquieting it is to be on the barren expanse that is the moon.

-Something Burns Inside the Heart from Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles.
I never got this far in the game (I don't own it, so I only ever played co-op with my friend and I held us back by dying a lot) but the music from Mount Kilanda sounds pretty freaking creepy to me. I mean hell even that name is rather ominous.

-Nightmare Reflected in the Mirror from Tales of Vesperia.
Oh godd the ghost ship creeped me out the second time I played through it just as much as the first. The quirk of the monsters being invisible except for in the copious amounts of mirrors kept me constantly on edge. And then when you have THIS playing in the background... yeah.

-Cave from Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. (Suggested by Peace)
Oh my god I've never played this game but this creeps me out. IT SEEMS VERY APPROPRIATE FOR A DARK DANK CAVE or something.

-Clock Town- Third Day from Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. (Suggested by Peace)
Ok yeah that weird bass in the back is really jarring with the upbeat melody.

-Haunted House from Super Mario 64. (Suggested by [livejournal.com profile] kazzisato)

-Shadow Temple and Fire Temple from Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. (Suggested by Peace)
"first time i peeked into the shadow temple in the graveyeard, never went there again
.. actually, a lot of the temple music is questionably creepy when you really listen to it"

-Forest Temple from Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. (Suggested by Peace)
"this is... really bad when you're just walking around because if i'm not mistaken there's a room with wall masters and stuff in here just TOSSING stuff at you namely the floor. so I guess that's floor masters, actually."

-Blizzeta from LoZ: Twilight Princess. (Suggested by Peace)
APPARENTLY PEACE FINDS LOZ MUSIC FRIGHTENING!

-Arbiters Ground from LoZ: Twilight Princess. (Suggested by Peace)
"I had a hard time getting through that temple too THE LEVEL OF SCARINESS IN TWILIGHT PRINCESS idk how i got through the game, being how i am with scary things in games"

-The Dark Interlopers from LoZ: Twilight Princess. (Suggested by Peace)

OK I WAS JUST PLAYING TOV AND I NOTICED SOMETHING. It  was when you go to Capua Torim the second time and you have to run around and talk to everyone. In the scene with Raven he's complain as usual that he can't keep up with us and it's a pain that he has to keep an eye on Estelle until she returns to the castle. He says something to the extent of "I wonder if I could hand her off to the knights somewhere along the way" (as they would bring her back to the castle obv.)

BUT DUDE

FORESHADOWING MUCH? SEEING AS RAVEN DOES JUST THAT MUCH LATER. Oh the things you notice the second time through...

But yeah, I don't mind so much that I had to start over (I lost my other Xbox 360 harddrive at camp... with my ToV savefile on it. I was just a bit after Zaude, iirc.) because I'm enjoying the game even more than I did the first time since I already loved half the characters, plus it's interesting to play through the earlier parts knowing what I know now. For example, every interaction with Alexei is weird for me now. HE PLAYS BEING SANE SO VERY CONVINCINGLY. Even his voice sounds less evil. I actually didn't really understand who he was until he was like "HAHA I'M ACTUALLY AN ANTAGONIST!" I think I got him confused with Drake at some point too. I DON'T KNOW HOW OK. But yeah I hadn't realized that you actually talk with him several times. He was a pretty hands-on Commandant, going to Dahngrest himself to talk with the Don. He probably would have been a good Commandant if he weren't, y'know, a raving lunatic. Oh well.

I've also noticed random burst of affection for characters that I was indifferent towards or disliked before, namely Karol. I realize now how adorable he is. I think I was predisposed to hate him due to his role as token shota probably triggering my hatred for Genis. I don't even know why I hate Genis. But I do. Or maybe it's how I used to hate Lloyd and now I'm like "O LLOYD U SO SILLY!!!" EITHER WAY. I will say that his voice remains one of the most annoying in the game. I'm just used to it now.

I still feel mostly indifferent towards Flynn and Estelle, though I'm trying to like Estelle more because of [livejournal.com profile] lukecho. Flynn I can always tolerate despite his weird warbly voice because he is so easy to make fun of.  SEARCH WARRANTS FTW. Estelle I can never bring myself to make fun of. I dunno why. I will say she's better than most Tales heroines. (I find Colette, Mint, and Shirley all insufferably helpless. As for Chloe who I guess could also be the heroine of Legendia isn't quite so helpless... you'd think. But I still get that damsel in distress vibe off of her, SOMEHOW. Iria I enjoy, and I enjoyed Kohak immensely before her spiria went all ASPLODED.)

As far as minor characters go, I found myself enjoying Leblanc's appearances. I was actually overjoyed when he showed up in Caer Bocram but he did technically save our lives there so that's understandable. I also had a moment where I thought Tison was pretty cool, but then I came to my senses. I MEAN COME ON, TISON? Also Clint. I enjoyed seeing Clint. But that was mainly because of the last name me and [livejournal.com profile] lukecho came up with for him. We decided his name is Clint Toris. HAHA, WE SO CLEVER AREN'T WE?? *shot*

OH ALSO THE OTHER DAY, I was exercising one of my nerdy habits by matching up characters from one thing with characters from another thing. This time it was ToV and Rurouni Kenshin. IT IS ACTUALLY A LITTLE SCARY HOW WELL IT WORKS. Raven would be Kenshin, them both being goofy 30-something war veterans. And they're both on the short side. Schwann would be Battosai obviously, both being the other half of Raven/Kenshin's identity, both of which they would have been during the war. Judith is Kaoru b/c they're both strong women and I ship Raven/Judith so shut up. Karol is obviously Yahiko, as the token shota. Yuri is Sanosuke, both being the younger friend of the lead character. They both love to fight, and don't beat around the bush about things. Estelle is Megumi I supose. In a way she fits Kaoru better, and Judith would fit the vixen aspect of Megumi... but Megumi can't fight, she's just a doctor. Soyeah. Rita is Misao, both being fiery teen girls who can kick some ass. Yeager is Saito, being a rival to Raven/Kenshin who helps out the good guys when he feels like it. Alexei can be Shishio if only because they're both nuts, and have awesome fighting techniques. And with him being Shishio, Khroma can be Yumi, Shishio's bitch. Duke can be Enishi, both being the REAL FINAL BOSS after the guy who you THOUGHT was the final boss. Plus they both fall under the "dead little sister trope", Duke with his bff Elucifer and Enishi with his big sister Tomoe. Speaking of which, Casey would obv be Tomoe. BUT YEAH RAVEN AND KENSHIN ARE ACTUALLY REALLY SIMILAR. Yeah ok that's enough of that.

Also, I plan on gettting up Chapter 3 of The Oltorain Family (I think I'm going to call it that, unless I think of a better name...) this weekend, if at all possible. Expect it to be titled something like "In which Yeager and his daughters make an extended appearance and Caitie continues to ignore Moses."
