So yes I got Graces like a week ago. I am almost done with the main plot because it was Spring Break and I don't have a life.

And the further I got the more I was like "THIS GAME REMINDS ME A LOT OF HEARTS." Which in some ways is understandable because Graces and Hearts are the 11th and 12th games of the series respectively! Some of it could also be contributed to me being a crazy person. BUT EITHER WAY I AM GOING TO TELL YOU HOW I FEEL THEY ARE SIMILAR HERE. The first thing was the music in Barona (WHICH I CAN'T FIND ON YOUTUBE, WHY DOES THE GRACES SOUNDTRACK NOT EXIST ON YOUTUBE?) it sounds very much like music that could be in Hearts, to me anyway. BUT NOW ONTO  ACTUAL DESCRIBABLE THINGS.

Hearts: you start the game by meeting a young girl who shortly becomes an emotionless husk of a person. You spend the first half of the game trying to fix her.
Graces: you start the game by meeting a young girl who has no memories and presents as an emotionless husk of a person. You spend a large part of the game trying to figure out who she is and where she is from, and later you must fix her.

Hearts: Kunzite is a mechanoid (which is like an android but not) who at one point struggles with what he wants to do and what he was programmed to do. He wants to protect Richea.
Graces: Sophie is a humanoid (which is like an android but not) whose recalling of what she is programmed to do provides an issue with what the party wants her to do. She wants to protect Asbel. (Also her default gauntlets are similar in design to the Mechanoid armor in Hearts.)

Hearts: Kunzite is from the dead planet Quartzia. Quartzia was far more technologically advanced than Celland, where everyone else is from. Quartzia was destroyed by the Quartz's own creation, Gardenia. The final boss is from Quartzia (Creed), as is the aqua-haired Richea, who travels with the party for quite a while. The party goes to Quartzia at one point.
Graces: Sophie is from the dead planet Fodra. Fodra was far more technologically advanced than Ephinea, where everyone else is from. Fodra was destroyed by the Fodran's own creation, Lambda. The final boss is from Fodra (Lambda?), as is the aqua-haired Emeraude, who travels with the party for quite a while. The party goes to Fodra at one point.

Hearts: Chalcedny is a young blond man with high standing who is at times your enemy and other times your friend.
Graces: Richard is a young blond man with high standing who is at times your enemy and other times your friend.

Hearts: Creed takes over Shing's body at one point.
Graces: Lambda takes over Richard's body  for the majority of the game. 

Hearts: There is military-based drama involving Innes, the oldest human party member. The story arc involving it ends with the death of her friend/love interest Isaac. He asks her to look after his child with his dying breath.
Graces: There is military based drama involving Malik, the oldest human party member. The story arc involving it ends with the death of his
friend/love interest Kurt. He asks him to look after his child. And by child I mean the revolution IT STILL COUNTS.

Hearts: Towards the end of the game, Celland is overrun with bizarre otherworldly monsters. (Zerom)
Graces: Towards the end of the game, Ephinea is overrun with bizarre otherworldly monsters (the monsters coming from Lambda's cocoon.)

THATS ALL I 'VE GOT FOR NOW. I'm not trying to say that Graces is bad or unoriginal because of this, I just thought it was interesting that these similarities exist.

He began to poke his head in before sharply retreating and ducking instead, just barely missing the glass vase that had suddenly been sent flying out the open window, flowers and all. It collided with the wall of the neighboring building, shattering into a slew of pastel colored pieces. The flowers had left the vase in the course of its flight, and now laid strewn around the small alleyway, like the victims of a terrible car accident. Raven sadly regarded one bright purple flower that had fallen in front of him before leaping to his feet again, "Damnit, Yuri! What'd ya do that for?"

So as of yesterday I am playing
Harry Whitehorse and Leblanc from Vesperia
Cress Albane from Phantasia
Kurtz from Graces
and Csaba from Legendia.

I'm not quite sure why I have Csaba but I am blaming the manga for making him cute. That is my excuse.

Harry is still my favorite. I am enjoying Leblanc though.

I'm also possibly going to snap up Ricardo since he isn't taken... I'm just not sure of my ability to play him...

AND SO I DID. BUT YEAH. I'd like to thank amberspike_sama for being the coolest Yeager ever, and lukecho for being the best gf ever and putting up with me babbling about Harry's escapades in Niteo endlessly.

OK I WAS JUST PLAYING TOV AND I NOTICED SOMETHING. It  was when you go to Capua Torim the second time and you have to run around and talk to everyone. In the scene with Raven he's complain as usual that he can't keep up with us and it's a pain that he has to keep an eye on Estelle until she returns to the castle. He says something to the extent of "I wonder if I could hand her off to the knights somewhere along the way" (as they would bring her back to the castle obv.)

FORESHADOWING MUCH? SEEING AS RAVEN DOES JUST THAT MUCH LATER. Oh the things you notice the second time through...

But yeah, I don't mind so much that I had to start over (I lost my other Xbox 360 harddrive at camp... with my ToV savefile on it. I was just a bit after Zaude, iirc.) because I'm enjoying the game even more than I did the first time since I already loved half the characters, plus it's interesting to play through the earlier parts knowing what I know now. For example, every interaction with Alexei is weird for me now. HE PLAYS BEING SANE SO VERY CONVINCINGLY. Even his voice sounds less evil. I actually didn't really understand who he was until he was like "HAHA I'M ACTUALLY AN ANTAGONIST!" I think I got him confused with Drake at some point too. I DON'T KNOW HOW OK. But yeah I hadn't realized that you actually talk with him several times. He was a pretty hands-on Commandant, going to Dahngrest himself to talk with the Don. He probably would have been a good Commandant if he weren't, y'know, a raving lunatic. Oh well.

I've also noticed random burst of affection for characters that I was indifferent towards or disliked before, namely Karol. I realize now how adorable he is. I think I was predisposed to hate him due to his role as token shota probably triggering my hatred for Genis. I don't even know why I hate Genis. But I do. Or maybe it's how I used to hate Lloyd and now I'm like "O LLOYD U SO SILLY!!!" EITHER WAY. I will say that his voice remains one of the most annoying in the game. I'm just used to it now.

I still feel mostly indifferent towards Flynn and Estelle, though I'm trying to like Estelle more because of lukecho. Flynn I can always tolerate despite his weird warbly voice because he is so easy to make fun of.  SEARCH WARRANTS FTW. Estelle I can never bring myself to make fun of. I dunno why. I will say she's better than most Tales heroines. (I find Colette, Mint, and Shirley all insufferably helpless. As for Chloe who I guess could also be the heroine of Legendia isn't quite so helpless... you'd think. But I still get that damsel in distress vibe off of her, SOMEHOW. Iria I enjoy, and I enjoyed Kohak immensely before her spiria went all ASPLODED.)

As far as minor characters go, I found myself enjoying Leblanc's appearances. I was actually overjoyed when he showed up in Caer Bocram but he did technically save our lives there so that's understandable. I also had a moment where I thought Tison was pretty cool, but then I came to my senses. I MEAN COME ON, TISON? Also Clint. I enjoyed seeing Clint. But that was mainly because of the last name me and lukecho came up with for him. We decided his name is Clint Toris. HAHA, WE SO CLEVER AREN'T WE?? *shot*

OH ALSO THE OTHER DAY, I was exercising one of my nerdy habits by matching up characters from one thing with characters from another thing. This time it was ToV and Rurouni Kenshin. IT IS ACTUALLY A LITTLE SCARY HOW WELL IT WORKS. Raven would be Kenshin, them both being goofy 30-something war veterans. And they're both on the short side. Schwann would be Battosai obviously, both being the other half of Raven/Kenshin's identity, both of which they would have been during the war. Judith is Kaoru b/c they're both strong women and I ship Raven/Judith so shut up. Karol is obviously Yahiko, as the token shota. Yuri is Sanosuke, both being the younger friend of the lead character. They both love to fight, and don't beat around the bush about things. Estelle is Megumi I supose. In a way she fits Kaoru better, and Judith would fit the vixen aspect of Megumi... but Megumi can't fight, she's just a doctor. Soyeah. Rita is Misao, both being fiery teen girls who can kick some ass. Yeager is Saito, being a rival to Raven/Kenshin who helps out the good guys when he feels like it. Alexei can be Shishio if only because they're both nuts, and have awesome fighting techniques. And with him being Shishio, Khroma can be Yumi, Shishio's bitch. Duke can be Enishi, both being the REAL FINAL BOSS after the guy who you THOUGHT was the final boss. Plus they both fall under the "dead little sister trope", Duke with his bff Elucifer and Enishi with his big sister Tomoe. Speaking of which, Casey would obv be Tomoe. BUT YEAH RAVEN AND KENSHIN ARE ACTUALLY REALLY SIMILAR. Yeah ok that's enough of that.

Also, I plan on gettting up Chapter 3 of The Oltorain Family (I think I'm going to call it that, unless I think of a better name...) this weekend, if at all possible. Expect it to be titled something like "In which Yeager and his daughters make an extended appearance and Caitie continues to ignore Moses."

SO, I had to write a description of a person for english. Being the obsessed fangirl I am, I chose Raven. It was supposed to be 1 page... I ended up with 2 and a half. ERRR >_>

But so yeah, a short little scene between Karol and Raven. I may post this on the ToV community, I'm not really sure.
